In word proccessors yes auto-correct takes care of invariable accents. I'm amazed how French are not annoyed by having to always go up there. QWERTY (check the first six letters on the top row) is the standard for most keyboards around the world, but others exist, including AZERTY, QWERTZ, and ones where it seems the letters are just strewn about randomly, like the Turkish F-keyboard.
